# Troubleshooting

Every error carries a **stable code**, a message and, almost always, a hint.
The full list is in [error codes](../errors.md). These are the ones that
come up most.

## `not logged in` / `unauthorized`

You have not signed in on this machine, or the token expired or was revoked.
Run `rapadura login`.

## `not_invited`

Your GitHub user has not been invited yet. Send the username to the
administrator and try again after the invite.

## `login_unavailable`

GitHub login is switched off on the gateway at the moment. Ask the
administrator for a token and use `RAPADURA_TOKEN`, or wait.

## `slug_taken`, `slug_reserved`, `invalid_slug`

The name exists, is reserved or has an invalid character. Use lowercase
letters, digits and single hyphens, and pick another name. See
[Rules and limits](rules.md#names).

## `archive_forbidden_file`

The folder contains a file that cannot go up: server-side code (`.php` and
similar) or secrets (`.env`, keys). The message lists each one. Publish only
the build output directory, or remove the files. There is no override.

## `archive_too_large` / `quota_exceeded`

Over the size limit or the number of sites. `rapadura zones` shows the
limits. Shrink, delete an old site, or ask the administrator for more.

## `publish_failed`

The server refused the configuration or the post-publish check failed. The
previous version is still live. Try again; if it persists, send the full
message to the administrator.

## The site does not open over HTTPS right after publishing

The first visit to a new address issues the certificate and can take 5 to 15
seconds. Reload. If it still fails after a minute, check
`rapadura sites show <name>` and tell the administrator.

## "command not found: rapadura"

The installer puts the binary in `~/.local/bin`. Add it to your PATH
(`export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"` in `.bashrc`/`.zshrc`) or call it by
its full path. On Windows see [Getting started](getting-started.md#2-install-the-cli).

## The agent says it cannot find the MCP server

Make sure `rapadura` is on the PATH the agent uses, or register it with the
binary's full path. Test in a terminal: `rapadura whoami` has to work before
MCP can.

## I want a site back after deleting it

The files are kept for a while. Ask the administrator to restore it and give
them the full address.
